One day came a certain Yue Jin, whose minor name was Wen-Jian,
and another Li Dian, also known as Man-jong. These two were appointed
to Cao's personal staff. Another was one Xiahou Dun. He was descended
from Xiahou Ying and had been trained from his early boyhood to
use the spear and club. When only fourteen he had been attached
to a certain master-in-arms. One day some one spoke disrespectfully
of his master and Dun killed him. For this deed, however, he had
to flee and had been an exile for sometime. Now he came to offer
his services, accompanied by his brother. Each brought a company
of trained men.
Really these two were brothers of Cao Cao by birth since his father
was originally of the Xiahou family, and had only been adopted into
the Cao family. A few days later came two other brothers, Cao Ren
and Cao Hong, each with a company. These two were accompanied horsemen
and trained in the use of arms. Then the drill began and Wei Hong
spent his treasure freely in buying , clothing, armors, flags, and
banner.
